James Houghton Victorious in Bone Stock Battle Royale at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario — Taking the checkered flag in both features as part of the Bone Stock Battle Royale presented by Lakside Mobile Tire Inc. at Sunset Speedway, James Houghton was crowned the overall winner of the event.

The driver of the No. 41 Acura was fast from the start of the event, timing in quickest in the group qualifying prior to the first feature with a lap of 17.583 seconds. The lap was just four hundrenths faster than Austyn Jennett, putting the pair of Acuras on the front row for the first feature.

Jennett jumped out to the early lead in the first feature, with the pair battling back and forth over the opening half of the event. Houghton was able to take the advantage, with Jennett remaining hot on his heels until the checkered flag was waved. Cameron Thomson out-battled Chris Allard to complete the podium ahead of Matt Young.

Flamboro Speedway standout Craig Cole was 11th, followed by Dustin Johnston, Sandy Eccles, Austin Etsell, Calvin Reesor, Nick Tooley, Phil Givens, James Downing, Steve Oakes, and Matt McGrath. Hailey Hill and Karlie Wilman followed, with Aidan Harper pulling down pit road with mechanical issues on Lap 5.

Oakes led 15 laps in total, before being passed by Cameron Thomson. Thomson held serve over the next five laps, before James Houghton was able to get alongside and make his move.

Austyn Jennett rebounded after being deemed involved in a caution on Lap 3 with a thrilling three-wide move in the final five laps for the runner-up ahead of Cameron Thomson, Matt Young, and Steve Oakes.

Paul Bogensberger Jr. was sixth in his second ever race in a front-wheel-drive car in front of Dustin Johnston, Jo Lawrence, Craig Cole, and Nick Tooley. Phil Given was 11th driving the No. 16s normally piloted by Alex Stewart, followed by Austin Etsell, Brady Cox, Jack Bird, Calvin Reesor, Hailey Hill, and Sandy Eccles.

Chris Allard was up inside the top-five when he slapped the outside wall, sending him to the pits on Lap 17. Karlie Wilman and Aidan Harper were next in the order after both having mechanical issues. Braiden Zammit and Mike Etsell saw their features end early after contact in the opening laps, with Matt McGrath down pit road on Lap 3 with motor issues.
