INNISFIL, Ontario — After qualifying deep in the field, Rick Spencer-Walt battled his way to a 12th-place finish in the Steve Slaughter Classic at Sunset Speedway.

Spencer-Walt began the night laying down a lap of 14.705 seconds in qualifying, to set him up to start 14th for the 100-lap event.

He would keep himself out of trouble through the opening half, making up a couple spots to run just outside the top-10 at the halfway mark. He looked to continue the climb forward, taking over 10th with 40 laps left on the board.

The past track champion got as high as ninth, before fading back in the final laps for a 12th-place finish.
