Putting together a masterful performance, Herb Walters kicked off the season for the Hot Rods in victory lane at Sunset Speedway.

The ability to start up front became key for Walters, as he found himself in the lead on Lap 2 and did not look back from there. He paced the remaining 29 circuits in route to picking up the checkered flag.

Steve Book paced the opening lap, and was able to hold off a hard charging Tyler Hawn in the closing stages for third. Josh Berry showcased his talent in his division debut with a fourth, while Rob Bromley rounded out the top-five.

The feature ran clean from start to finish, with the only incident being Ben McPherson getting a little sideways by himself but able to save the car in his division debut.

Heat wins went to Herb Walters and Steve Book.
