Josh Davenport was impressive all last year, and it paid off in style with a division championship. He kicked off his Jr Late Model title defence in style by winning the season opener at Sunset Speedway.

Davenport wasted no time making his way forward once the green flag was waved, taking the lead in the early stages. He then drove away from the rest of the field, weaving his way through the lap traffic with ease en route to the checkered flag.

Caleb McConnel proved to be fast at Sunset once again with a runner-up finish, with Wyatt Sprung rounding the podium. Morgan Moore and Brody Coates completed the top-five.

The event was relatively clean throughout, with just an early caution for contact between Troy Purvis and Rylan Kamrath.

Heat victories went to Josh Davenport and Caleb McConnel.
