Kendra Adams Excited and Ready to Learn in Rookie APC Series Season

After steadily improving over the past couple seasons behind the wheel, Kendra Adams is ready for the next challenge of her racing career. The 25-year-old revealed she will be tackling the full APC Auto Parts United Late Model Series schedule this upcoming season about a month ago.

“My initial thought going into the APC season as a rookie is excitement, but I’m also really just looking to learn in 2025,” she told Short Track Musings. “Getting the Pro Late Model last year in 2024 was just a huge learning year for me and my team in both driving style and working on the car itself so I’m excited to see what going to new tracks will do to our program.”

Adams went onto add that she feels the 2025 campaign is the right time to make the jump in not knowing how many years she has left behind the wheel, and knowing she’d be “really disappointed” if she did not check this box off.

“I’ve done 12 full-time seasons at Sunset Speedway and it might be something I return to but I would not be happy if I finished my racing career and I hadn’t done one full season with APC tour,” she expressed.

Coming off a third-place finish in the Pro Late Model standings last season at Sunset Speedway, the second generation racer is keeping her goals in check by aiming to finish each race every week.

“It’s kind of corny, but it is true where if you don’t finish, you can’t finish well,” she commented. “So my goal is to really finish every race and learn as much as possible and a cherry on top of that would be at least one top five finish.”

As she continues to grow as a driver this season, she notes it will be critical to listen to advice when it comes to driving styles, and trying different things.

“I feel like it’s really easy to get put into a rhythm, but we did a lot of different things this year that normally I wouldn’t have done and made changes that normally I wouldn’t have done and it really paid off,” she explained. “I got to learn what I like what I didn’t like, and it helped me make decisions in the future.”

In working to improve those decisions, she went on to say it will be critical to improve her feedback, while also trying different things as a driver.

“I think one of the most important things when asking other people for help whether it be set up help or help in the car is being able to try different things and I wanna be able to better explain how the new things I’m trying or affecting my car,” she expressed. “I really just wanna be able to push myself better on the racetrack in order to provide better feedback to the people who are helping me in the pits.”

The 2025 APC Series campaign will see her stop at familiar tracks to her like Sunset Speedway, but also new places like the toughest 1/3-mile oval in the province, Peterborough Speedway.

“Everyone who has ever raced there (at Peterborough) always talks about how it’s such a fun tractor race and they love it so much, so I’m really looking forward to race there,” she said. “I do love watching races there so I’m definitely looking forward to that race and kind of disappointed it’s only one race.”

She made her debut last season in the APC Series, running a pair of events including the 200 lap event at Sunset which turned into one of her most memorable moments of last season.

“I had no brakes in the car,” she recalled. “That was extremely memorable because it was absolutely terrible. And my positive was racing Dwayne Baker for third place about halfway through the season. He is such a great person to race against and I had tons of fun and he really gave me a run for my money. That fourth place finish for me was very memorable.”
