PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — Despite finding himself pinned against the turn three wall, Andrew Gresel was able to rebound to score the victory in the Electric City 167 at Peterborough Speedway.
The past Sauble Speedway track champion showed speed in qualifying, putting the No. 81 Late Model within the top-five of the starting grid. He began to work his way forward through the opening laps, until Travis Hallyburton and Sean Walker came together ahead of him, with Hallyburton going up the track. Gresel tried to avoid, but was caught a bit of it stopped up against the wall.
Gresel would look to regain the lost track position, making his way back into the top-five with 111 laps on the board. He would avoid an incident ahead of him, inheriting the lead shortly thereafter. He then paced the remaining laps en route to winning the Electric City 167 as part of the Autumn Colours Classic at Peterborough Speedway.
Dustyn Mombourquette kept his nose clean throughout the event en route to a runner-up, with Dan McHattie rebounding from the aforementioned incidents while leading for third. He was trying to get through lap traffic, when he tagged the back bumper of Billy Zardo, sending him for a spin on the frontstretch.
Kelly Balson and Brandt Graham completed the top-five ahead of Paul Maltese, Billy Zardo, Dale Shaw, Gary Hannah, and Ryan Kimball. Kimball led the opening laps, but found himself deep in the field after making contact with Graham while going through traffic and looping it around on the backstretch.
Travis Hallyburton and Sean Walker were 11th and 12th respectively after their contact together in front of Shawn McGlynn, Gary Elliott, Tyler Junkin, and Mike Bentley. Steve Powell went around on the frontstretch followed by significant contact with the outside turn four wall en route to 16th ahead of Jacob Mercer.
Gord Shepherd rounded out the field after being taken out of competition while trying to go by the lap car of Junkin on Lap 36.
