Mark Dilley Comes Out on Top in Tammy O Memorial at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario — On three occasions this season Mark Dilley has driven the No. 64 Hot Rod entry for Tom Walters. Each of those times have concluded with the same result, as he captured the checkered flag in the Fall Velocity Tammy O Memorial on Saturday at Sunset Speedway.

Dilley won his qualifying heat, allowing him to start up front for the feature, which he took full advantage of. He ran second through the opening laps, getting alongside Rick Spencer-Walt for top spot with 20 laps to go. He took over the top spot six laps later, pacing the remaining 14 laps en route to capturing the checkered flag. Dilley also won the Bill Zardo Memorial in May, followed by the Flyin’ Frank feature in August.

Rick Spencer-Walt rebounded from contact in his qualifying heat to pick up the checkered flag there, and paced the opening 30 laps of the feature before an unscheduled trip down pit road. He would make a second trip to a change a flat tire with 10 laps to go, driving back through the field for a runner-up finish.

Dan Archibald rebounded after being involved in a couple incidents throughout the event for third ahead of Paul Bogensberger Sr. and Drew Robertson.

Tom Walters entered the afternoon as a favourite for the victory, but wrecked out during qualifying after contact with Luke Gignac.
