INNISFIL, Ontario — It seems every time Dawson Drimmie has found himself in the lead late at Sunset Speedway, something has stopped him from reaching victory lane. The monkey is off his back now, though, as he captured the checkered flag in Sunday’s Fall Velocity feature for the Ontario Legend Car Series.
Joe Adams held the early advantage, but it’d be Dawson Drimmie closing the gap through the second half of the event. He would try on a couple occasions to get around, with the pair spending several laps side-by-side. Drimmie grabbed the top spot with four laps to go, pacing the final laps en route to winning.
Adam Cuthbertson snuck in for second, with Joe Adams completing the podium. Jade Franklin was fourth, with Mitch Wright rebounding from a spin for fifth.
Matt Boyes placed sixth in front of Cole McFadden, Jordan Latimer, Caleb Drimmie, and Gibson Baker.
Jason Legge spent the first half of the event in the runner-up spot, until contact sent him around and to the back. He rebounded for 11th, followed by Keaton Pipe, Hailey McNicol, Andrew McFadden, Jake Spencer-Walt, Joe Sherman, Kenny McNicol, Todd Tolton, Jimmy Hooper. and Paul Pierik.
Nathan Killins was 21st, followed by Glenn Morris, Matt Thompson, and Robbie Sikes. Sikes went for a spin and sustained damage after contact with Pierik on Lap 2.
