INNISFIL, Ontario — Taking the top two spots in time trials, the Two Speed Motorsports teammate did not let up on their competition en route to a one-two finish in the Ontario Sportsman Series finale at Sunset Speedway on Friday.
Cory McAllister got the upper hand in qualifying and took the early advantage ahead of the field. However, just before halfway, Connor James made his move to pass his teammate for the victory. James then cruised home to the victory with McAllister holding off Ollie Ferguson in a late-race dash en route to the checkered.
Notably, the pair of teammates had the whole field a lap down until a late-race caution enabled the lucky dog rule to come into effect. It also marked the perfect icing on the cake as the pair shared the honour in being the 2024 Ontario Sportsman Series Champions after sharing the No. 71 ride throughout the season. James jumped behind the wheel for McAllister, after McAllister hurt his back in a crash at Sunset Speedway in late model competition.
Ollie Ferguson completed the podium ahead of Brendan Patrick and Kevin Trevellin.
Doug Cathcart was sixth in front of Chad McGlynn, Nathaniel Greenway, Bill Daniels, Lora Authier, and Chris Sherrah.
