INNISFIL, Ontario — It was a month and a half ago that fans witnessed Dale Shaw heavily damage his Late Model in a crash during qualifying at Delaware Speedway. The Shaw Motorsports went to work, rebuilding the car completely, bringing it out for the first time since this past weekend at Sunset Speedway.
Their hard work paid off, as Dale Shaw led flag-to-flag en route to winning the 50 lap feature on Sunday afternoon at Sunset Speedway.
The third-generation racer laid down the quickest time in qualifying with a lap of 14.609 seconds to give him the pole for the feature. He then built a gap off of the green flag, and was maintain it over the field as he weaved through the lap traffic with the laps counting down on the board en route to victory.
Danny Benedict mounted a charge through the second half of the feature en route to a second-place finish, with Gord Shepherd completing the podium. Dustyn Mombourquette and Samantha Shaw rounded out the top-five.
Travis Hallyburton was sixth ahead of Paul Maltese, Kendra Adams, Jordan Howse, and Mike Bentley. Howse had to fight back following a pair of incidents during the 50 lap feature, including contact while running fifth with 12 laps to go that sent him around for a spin in turn three. Jeff Hanley, which caused the contact, was blackflagged afterwards for driver misconduct after running into Howse once the caution was out.
Keith Temple and Dwayne Baker rounded out the field of competitors.
