Ontario Legend Series

Mitch Wright and Joe Adams Victorious in Ontario Legend Series Features

INNISFIL, Ontario — It was the tale of two tapes on Saturday at Sunset Speedway with the Ontario Legend Car Series, as the first feature brought forth one of the closest finishes ever, while the other saw a series of domination.

After getting rained out earlier this season, the Ontario Legend Series opened the show with their make-up feature, with the line-up set by how they had qualified a couple months ago. It looked to be a battle between the brothers at the beginning, with the Cuthbertsons ready to settle it between them. However, contact on Lap 18 led to Wes Cuthbertson not being able to finish, and Adam sent to the tail of the field for the restart.

Jason Legge inherited the top spot, and looked to be set to cruise to the checkered flag. However, it wasn’t meant to be as he was tracked down by Mitch Wright and Dawson Drimmie. Wright would take over the top spot with two laps to go, with Drimmie hot on his heels. Drimmie would make his move on the last lap, coming up mere inches short – 0.002 seconds to be exact according to timing and scoring.

Joe Adams snuck in to complete the podium in front of Jason Legge and Cole McFadden. Caleb Drimmie put together one of his best performances in sixth, followed by Jade Franklin, Adam Cuthbertson, Robbie Sikies, and Keaton Pipe.

The second feature following the two rounds of heats would be a different story, as Joe Adams asserted his control ahead of the field from the pole. He would cruise out to the advantage, leaving the rest of the field to battle amongst themselves as he cruised to victory lane. Adam and Wes Cuthbertson rebounded from their incident in the first feature for second and third, respectively.

Mitch Wright out-battled Jordan Latimer for fourth, ahead of Jason Legge, Caleb Drimmie, Jade Franklin, Cole McFadden, and Paul Pierik.
