PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — In a battle of the heavyweights of the class, Mikey Homewood came out on top in the Outlaw Midgets presented by Canadian Tire Innisfil feature at Peterborough Speedway on Saturday.

Jason Metcalfe broke out to the early advantage and looked to be possibly headed towards another checkered flag. However, he was not able to cruise away as Mikey Homewood reeled him in. As the pair weaved their way through lap traffic, Homewood made his move, taking over the top spot.

Mikey Homewood then led the rest of the way en route to winning ahead of Jason Metcalfe and Kevin Spiesz. Rob Harrison’s solid runs continued with a fourth, in front of Russ Couture.

Rob McCall was sixth, followed by Fred Homewood, Kurt Lawton, Mike Bradley, and Brett Dorion. Dave Inglis unfortunately suffered a post-race disqualification, while Mathew Colley did not take the green flag.

Heat wins went to Mikey Homewood (x2) and Kevin Spiesz (x2).

The next race for the Outlaw Midgets is a double-header this weekend at Sauble Speedway on Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1.
