Mark Dilley Edges Out Rick Spencer-Walt for OSCAAR Hot Rod Victory

INNISIFIL, Ontario — It takes the average person between 0.1 and 0.4 seconds to blink their eyes. If you were in the process of doing that, you missed the finish to Saturday’s JRS Auctions OSCAAR Hot Rod feature at Sunset Speedway.

In a great side-by-side battle through the final laps of the event, it’d be Mark Dilley edging out Rick Spencer-Walt by 0.008 seconds to pick up the checkered flag and visit McColl Racing Enterprises victory lane.

Spencer-Walt wasted no time in finding his way to the lead in the 30-lap feature after taking the green from the fourth position. He looked to be ready to set sail, but could not shake Dilley from his rear bumper as he kept him within striking distance.

Following a series of cautions in the second half, Dilley was able to make his move with six laps to go and get beneath Spencer-Walt for the lead. Dilley poked the nose of the No. 64 out front two laps later, but Spencer-Walt did not back down with a crossover of his own. The pair remained side-by-side through the remaining circuits, crossing the finish line mere inches apart.

Rob Bromley ran consistently up front throughout the feature to complete the podium. Tom Walters and Kenny McNicol Jr. rebounded from seperate incidents for fourth and fifth, respectively.

Steve McCaw was sixth ahead of Brian Wilson, Steve Book, Drew Robertson and Tyler Hawn. Hawn was involved in an incident with McNicol at the halfway mark.

Dan Archibald placed 11th after a pair of incidents, followed by Thomas Wunsch, Thomas Dunn, Luke Gignac, Jamie Cairns, Connor Ellis, Travis Farrow, Tyler Ecker, Dean Jessop, and Nick Tooley.

Alvin McNicol was 21st filling in for Hailey after finding himself in the midst of a multi-vehicle incident. Ryan Cowan, Jeremy McLean, and Jim Blackwell.

Bromley Automotive heat wins went to Kenny McNicol Jr., Rick Spencer-Walt, Tyler Hawn, Tom Walters, Dan Archibald and Mark Dilley.

Tyler Hawn currently leads Rob Bromley by eight points in the series standings.

The next event on the JRS Auctions OSCAAR Hot Rods schedule takes place at Delaware Speedway on Saturday, September 7.
