INNISFIL, Ontario — Making his return to Sunset Speedway with the APC Auto Parts United Late Model Series, Cole Quinton led some laps en route to a solid finish in the Stewart’s Equipment and Kabota 200.
After working on getting the No. 18 comfortable through the practice session, the team entered the qualifying session confident they would be able to earn a solid starting spot. Quinton would rip off a lap of 14.497 seconds, placing him second-quickest on the score board.
The invert would see him start on the pole, which Quinton took full advantage of and putting a gap between himself and the field en route to pacing the opening 47 laps.
Although he lost the lead on Lap 48, he would only drop back a couple spots to third when the competition caution came out at Lap 102. The team would make the decision to pit for adjustments and fuel, shifting him back to ninth in the running order.
Restarting just inside the top-10, Quinton tried to make up the lost ground, but fighting ill-handling with the car, he dropped back a couple more spots before the checkered flag waved. He would finish the 200-lap event in 12th.
The next event on the APC Auto Parts United Late Model Series sees Quinton head to Sauble Speedway on Saturday, August 24.
