INNISFIL, Ontario — Taking over the top spot at the halfway mark, Josh Stade led the rest of the way en route to winning the Stewart’s Equipment 200 for the APC Auto Parts United Late Model Series at Sunset Speedway.

A strong qualifying effort put Stade on the front row for the event, with him steadily saving his stuff as he faded back to seventh by Lap 17. However, as the laps continued to tick by, he began to gain the lost ground, returning to the top-five at Lap 50, before moving into second with 77 laps on the board. The halfway break would be turning point, as he inherited the lead when Danny Benedict pitted.

Stade then got a good restart, putting a gap between himself and Kyle Steckly en route to the checkered flag. Benedict fell back to seventh with his pit stop, getting back up to third by the end of the event. Past series champion Jo Lawrence and quick qualifier Blair Wickett rounded out the top-five.

Shae Gemmell battled to sixth ahead of spring event winner Jr Farrelly, Taylor Holdaway, and Rick Spencer-Walt. Spencer-Walt ran Jake Sheridan’s No. 52 to earn points for Sheridan after Sheridan was sidelined with motor issues in practice. Ray Morneau completed the top-10.

Notably, pole sitter Cole Quinton led the first 47 laps before fading back to a 12th-place finish.

The race featured a pair of cautions – one for a single-car spin featuring Kody Cook, and the second for the halfway break.
