Tom Walters Makes Late-Race Pass for Victory at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario — Driving around the outside of the leader, Tom Walters picked up the win in the Hot Rod feature at Sunset Speedway on Saturday night.

As the laps ticked down, Tom Walters found himself on the bumper of Dan Archibald, looking for a way by for the top spot. He then made his move with three laps to go, using the outside line and momentum to take the lead. He then paced the remaining couple of laps en route to victory.

Rob Bromley out-battled Herb Walters for third, with Amanda Balson competing the top-five despite suffering damage on the initial start. Tyler Hawn placed sixth in front of Jamie Cairns, Jay Cutting, Paul Bogensberger Jr., and Drew Robertson.

Thomas Dunn was 11th, followed by Nick Tooley and Jim Blackwell. Several drivers found themselves on the sidelines early as a result of damage after the field stacked up together on a Lap 7 restart. Those competitors included Luke Gignac, Brian Ferroni, Paul Bogensberger Sr., Connor Ellis and Matt Spry. Jeremy McLean and Tyler Ecker rounded out the field.

Tom Walters and Dan Archibald won the qualifying heats.
