INNISFIL, Ontario — After withstanding a couple battles along the way, Amanda Balson was able to cruise to the victory in the Hot Rod feature at Sunset Speedway on Saturday.
Balson had the liberty of starting up front, and used it to grab the lead off the drop of the green flag. However, she was unable to simply cruise away from the pack with a hard charge being mounted by Dan Archibald. The pair went back and forth through the middle portion, before Balson was able to put the No. 16 out front on Lap 12.
Amanda Balson then led the second half of the feature with ease en route to the checkered flag. Herb Walters made his way through the traffic for a runner-up finish, while Rob Bromley held off Tom Walters coming to the line for third. Paul Senior rounded out the top-five.
Jamie Cairns turned a pole position starting spot into a solid sixth ahead of Paul Bogensberger Jr. and Matt Spry. Tyler Hawn and Dan Archibald completed the top-10 after having to rebound following an incident together.
Drew Robertson was 11th, followed by Jayden Blackwell, Nick Tooley, Brian Ferroni, and Steve Ecker. Tyler Ecker was involved in a pair of incidents en route to 16th, while mechanical issues took Dalen Martin out of competition on Lap 9. Thomas Dunn was credited with 18th, while Jay Cutting failed to complete a lap after going up in smoke on Lap 1.
