LONDON, Ontario — By staying out of trouble and avoiding the incidents that happened on-track, Tyler Hawn was able to win the JRS Auction OSCAAR Hot Rod feature on the Friday portion of the OSCAAR Nationals presented by The Fyre Place & Patio Shop at Delaware Speedway.
Hawn took the green just inside the invert, and found himself battling inside the top-five at Lap 15. He kept himself in position, avoiding an incident ahead of him with six laps to go to take over the spot. He then out-battled Steve Book on the last pair of ensuing restarts to visit McColl Racing Enterprises victory lane.
Steve Book picked up a season-best runner-up, with Cole Weber slipping through for a third ahead of Rob Bromley and Matt Hopkins.
Jordan Morris’ first start with the tour this year netted him a sixth in front of Steve Ecker, Kenny McNicol Jr., Barry Watson, and Connor Ellis.
Ryan Cowan was 11th, followed by Hailey McNicol and Dave Evison. Jamie Cairns fell out of the event on Lap 21 en route to 14th after an incident with the McNicols in turn one. A battle for the lead went wrong on Lap 18, resulting in contact and significant damage for both Trevor Thompson and Steve McCaw on the frontstretch.
Thomas Wunsch fell out of the event on Lap 15, along with David Rockwood, who was running third when he suffered mechanical issues. Jeremy McLean rounded out the field.
Bromley Automotive heat wins went to David Rockwood and Trevor Thompson.
