Rick Spencer-Walt Goes Two-For-Three at Sunset Speedway’s Spring Velocity

INNISFIL, Ontario — Driving for two different car owners in two different classes across two days at Sunset Speedway, Rick Spencer-Walt won two of the three features he ran at Spring Velocity.

On Saturday driving for ADAMS Motorsports in the Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified season opener, Spencer-Walt showed speed throughout the pair of practice sessions. It carried into qualifying, with him battling back and forth in his first heat for the lead en route to a runner-up. He backed it up with a win in his second qualifier to set him up to start second for the feature.

He would battle for the lead off the drop of the green flag, taking it and ready to distance himself from the field. Although he was faced with a mid-race restart, Spencer-Walt did not back down as he cruised to his first career OSCAAR Modified feature victory.

On Sunday driving for Paul Senior in the Bill Zardo Memorial for the hot rod division, he posted a lap of 15.445 seconds to qualify second for the first 46-lap feature. He wasted no time when the green flag waved, immediately taking the lead and beginning to distance himself from the field. He then dominated the feature en route to picking up the checkered flag.

He looked poised to carry the dominance in the second feature, but unable to fire the car after a red flag for a wreck on the backstretch on the first lap saw him sidelined early. He was credited with sixth-place overall.
