INNISFIL, Ontario — The 2024 campaign for Emms Racing is off to a good start, as evident by a podium finish on Saturday at Sunset Speedway in the Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified sesaon opener.
A.J. Emms showcased his ability behind the wheel by barely avoiding a spin by a fellow competitor in the first qualifying heat. He then turned a last-place starting spot into a third, on the heels of top-two looking for a way by.
He carried the momentum into the second qualifier, jumping out to the advantage and pacing all 10 laps en route to the heat victory.
The strong run in qualifying allotted him to start fourth in the main event, which he took full advantage of by jumping up into the runner-up spot before the race’s early caution. He would battle for the lead on the restart, leading a lap in the process, before fading back to second. He remained there, until losing out in a back-and-forth battle for the spot with five laps to go.
The speed in the No. 14 Modified allowed Emms to cross the finish line with a third-place finish. The result builds upon the team’s successful series numbers, which include 56 top-five’s (second all-time) and 69 top-10’s (series leading) in 86 starts.
Emms Racing is proud to be supported by BAE Enviromental, Wolseley Lodge, TL Tire, Speedy Glass Orillia, Bromley Automotive Ltd, Black Barn Golf Cars, Jayne at Good Things Promo, and Short Track Musings for the 2024 race season.
