INNISFIL, Ontario — After being wrecked out while battling for the lead two weeks ago, Jacob Sutcliffe was able to pick up the checkered flag on Sunday at Sunset Speedway’s Spring Velocity.

It did not come easy for the driver of the No. 27 Mustang, as he was challenged heavily throughout the event by some of the best in the province. Blaise Shaw initially looked to try and find his way around, but instead found himself back in third after being passed by Shawn Taylor. Taylor then mounted his charge, taking the lead at the halfway mark and looking ready to cruise to victory.

The 2023 Frostoberfest Champion’s plan was stopped when the caution came out for an incident on the backstretch. The restart saw him put alongside Sutcliffe, with the pair ready to battle it out. They would go back and forth, neither able to pull ahead with the advantage as the other charged back. Ultimately as they crossed the finish line, Jacob Sutclifffe got his bumper out ahead of Shawn Taylor for the win.

Blaise Shaw rebounded from issues on opening night for third ahead of Matt Young and Michael Robertson III. Cameron McGlashan scored a second straight top-10 in sixth in front of Jason D’Antimo, Jake Spencer-Walt, Bob Phinnemore and Coleridge Phinnemore. Notably, Spencer-Walt and Coleridge were involved in separate incidents.

The rookie campaign for Aundrea Lusk took a hit when she sustained front end damage after making contact with RJ Croteau when he spun, leaving her nowhere to go.

Heat wins went to Chandler Bos, Shawn Taylor, and Cameron McGlashan, while Peter Wakeling won the b-main.
