INNISFIL, Ontario — In a battle that consumed the attention of the fans in attendance, Cole Kamrath was able to cross the checkered flag first in front of Josh Davenport in the first round of Elmer’s Fighting Supply Big 3 Series at Sunset Speedway Spring Velocity.
From the drop of the green flag, everyone knew the dominant cars were going to be Cole Kamrath, Josh Davenport and Keegan Moat as the trio had an advantage over the rest of their young competitors. That shined through as the laps mounted on the board, with Davenport and Moat chasing Kamrath around the 1/3-mile semi-banked oval.
The turning point would be a mid-race caution for a single-car spin. With the field tied back together, the battle was on for the restart with everyone vying for the advantage. Kamrath got the early grab, with Davenport and Moat set to battle for second. Unfortunately, a slight tap from Moat to Davenport sent the No. 30 around on the backstretch.
With something to prove now, Davenport drove his way back up through the field of young competitors with his sights set on Kamrath. This would set up a thrilling back-and-forth battle for the final six laps with the pair trading the top spot back and forth, using the banking to gain momentum.
Cole Kamrath secured the top spot for the final time with three laps to go, pacing the rest of the way en route to victory ahead of Josh Davenport. Keegan Moat got back to third ahead of Wyatt Sprung and Ethan Malin.
Heat wins went to Josh Davenport and Ethan Malin.
