Miles Tyson Capitalizes to Capture Checkered Flag at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario —- Taking over the lead after contact ahead of him, Miles Tyson led the rest of the way en route to winning the season opener for the Super Stocks at Sunset Speedway.

The event began with Bester Products sponsored-drivers Lane Zardo and Roy Wilkie on the front row, ready to settle it between them after splitting victories in the qualifying heats earlier that afternoon. The pair went back and forth, trading the top spot twice, before contact and a spin by Wilkie with 10 laps to go. Zardo would be sent to the tail of the field, handing the top spot over to Tyson.

Miles Tyson then out-battled last year’s points runner-up Johnny Morrison on the first restart, followed by rookie Jacob Booth in another to capture the checkered flag. Technically, it marks his second straight victory as he capped off the 2023 campaign by winning the Autumn Colours Classic at Peterborough speedway.

Lane Zardo and Roy Wilkie rebounded from their respective incident for second and third, respectively, with Jacob Booth and Coltin Everingham.

Paul Pepper came back to finish sixth, after being involved in a spin for Morrison with five laps to go battling for second. Dan Hawn was seventh, followed by Matt McGrath, Cole Burrows, and Johnny Morrison.

Connor Maltese, Jay Doeer, and Tyler Liscum rounded out the field. Liscum and Maltese made contact in turn one, when Liscum had something break in the front-end and drove up over-top of Maltese’s front fender on a restart.
