Danny Benedict Victorious in Electric City 167 at Autumn Colours Classic

PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — When it comes to the long distance affairs, Danny Benedict seems to know what he is doing. After opening the year victorious in the first ever extended distance event for the APC Auto Parts United Late Model Series, he capped it off by winning the Electric City 167 as part of Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic.

Starting on the pole, Danny Benedict looked to have the strongest car in the opening laps, breaking out to the early advantage as he drove away from the field for the first 87 laps of the event. A mid-race restart would work out in Treyten Lapcevich’s favor, as he was able to get by and take over the top spot.

Riding in second, Benedict bided his time as he kept himself within striking distance, trying on a couple occasions to get back by the No. 0 Late Model to retake the lead. His efforts were rewarded as he got underneath Lapcevich on Lap 114, passing him to take back the top spot.

Danny Benedict then led the rest of the way to score the victory in his No. 54 Late Model, with Treyten Lapcevich finishing second after pacing 27 laps. Gord Shepherd made a late-charge through the field for third, with Lane Zardo and Bobby Cousineau completing the top-five.

Dirt regular Brandt Graham shined through with a sixth ahead of Coltin Everingham, Paul Maltese, James Horner, and Jacob Mercer. Brandon Feeney drove Gary Hannah’s late model to 11th in front of Sean Walker, Norm Stoddard, Ryan Kimball, Jassen Whyte, Jonah Bell, Tyler Junkin, and Josh Gruntz.
