PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — Doug Butler may be the track champion this season at Sunset Speedway, but he’s proving he can also get the job done around the province. After scoring a podium at Flamboro Speedway’s Frostoberfest, he is the top qualifier for the Mini Stock division at Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic.
Sunset Speedway regular Chandler Bos won the first heat ahead of Nolan Gould, Karl Sault, Wayde Thorne, Bob Phinnemore, Rob Crick, Dylan Wills, Will Gibbons, and Bob Stewart.
Doug Butler was victorious in the second qualifier in front of Coleridge Phinnemore, Ryder White, Robbie Sikes, Tyler Croft, Kris Inglis, Dave Dippel, Tiffany Vandebelt, Carol Dawson, and Ryan Babin. Babin only completed three laps due to an engine failure.
Frostoberfest Champion Shawn Taylor grabbed the checkered flag in the third heat followed by Bobby Mercer, Ryan Edwards-Kiss, Matt Young, Chris Tubman, Mike Thompson, Tyler McMurter, and Jacob Sutcliffe.
Peterborough track champion Nolan Gould won the fourth qualifier ahead of Sault, Thorne, Gibbons, Bob Phinnemore, Bos, Crick, Stewart, Dave Watchorn, and Wills.
After changing the motor overnight, Ryan Babin was victorious in the fifth heat in front of Butler, Dippel, Coleridge Phinnemore, White, Vandebelt, Dawson, and Croft. Sikes only completed a single lap after making contact with the turn three wall after being spun by Croft, with Inglis caught up in the incident.
Sunset Speedway regular Jacob Sutcliffe grabbed the checkered flag in the final qualifier followed by Edwards-Kiss, Thompson, Tubman, Mercer, Taylor, Young, and McMurter.
