Jay Cutting Makes it Two in a Row at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario — It doesn’t matter whether he’s driving his own car or his teammate Cash Ireton’s entry, Jay Cutting has found his way to victory lane by going two in a row at Sunset Speedway.

Brandon Steele won the first heat ahead of Josh Berry, Calvin Reesor, Nathan Hawkins, Kris Khan, Aidan Harper, Josh Watson, Brandon Burnett, and Jason Melson.

Jay Cutting was victorious in the second qualifier in front of James Houghton, Austyn Jennett, Greg Duncan, Ben McPherson, Jason King, Nicholas Reece, Steve Oakes, and Justice Jones.

Kris Khan got the checkered flag in the third heat followed by Steele, Hawkins, Harper, Berry, Reesor, Watson, Melson, and Burnett.

Jay Cutting went for the daily double ahead of Houghton, Reece, Oakes, McPherson, Duncan, Jennett, Melson, King, and Jones. There was a caution at Lap 4 for King making contact with Jones before both drivers got into the turn three and four wall. Then under the yellow flag, Jones repeatedly hit the side of King’s car before asked to leave the property.

When it came time for the main event, Cutting wasted no time finding his way to the lead, but was unable to leave the field behind. He was closely followed by Berry, Steele and Houghton, with each of the four looking for a way by. Steele was abele to use the lap traffic to his advantage at one point, but Cutting found his way back by a mere five laps later. There was then a late-race caution with two laps to go as Berry’s teammate King made contact with Melson down the frontstretch, setting up a restart.

Jay Cutting then held off Josh Berry to score the victory while Brandon Steele beat James Houghton to the line for third. Kris Khan completed the top-five in front of Calvin Reesor, Aidan Harper, David Rockwood, Greg Duncan, and Nathan Hawkins. Steve Oakes was 11th followed by Brandon Burnett, Ben McPherson, Jason King, Nicholas Reece, Jason Melson, Austyn Jennett, and Josh Watson.
