INNISFIL, Ontario — Running a paint scheme in honor of his father, Glenn Watson put together the perfect feature en route to picking up the checkered flag on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
After posting the fifth quickest time during the Ontario Outlaw Super Late Model qualifying session, Watson worked his way to the front in the beginning stages of the 75-lap feature. He would get by Mike Wilkinson with just 17 laps on the board, and began to set sail as he drove away from the rest of the field. It would not be an easy cruise to victory, with a series of yellow flags slowing down the action in the second half of the event.
Glenn Watson remained poised through it all, though, holding off Brandon Passer in a late-race restart en route to winning the feature. Ethan Cournyea placed third, while Scott Beatty rebounded from an incident for fourth ahead of Gary McLean. Mike Wilkinson crossed the finish line in sixth after pacing the first 16 laps in front of Dario Capirchio, the 72, Chris Burrows, and Charlie Gallant.
Mike Miller was 11th after being involved in a couple incidents, followed by Thayne Hallyburton, the 16, Todd Campbell and Jamie.
Chase Wilson was the quickest driver in time trials, but a mechanical issue took him out of contention with just two laps on the board.
