Blair Wickett Scores Victory in Mini Stock Ringer at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario — In a race that featured an array of drivers with no one allowed to drive their registered entry, it was APC Auto Parts United Late Model Series competitor Blair Wickett picking up the victory.

Behind the wheel of the No. 27 Mustang normally driven by Wyatt Sutcliffe, everyone would just see the rear bumper as Wickett took the lead on Lap 3, and did not look back from there. He continued to build his advantage throughout the race, posting his quickest lap on Lap 14 of the 25 lap affair en route to picking up the $1000 payday.

It turned into a one-two finish for Sutcliffe Brothers Racing as Erik Dalla Riva drove the No. 72 normally driven by Wyatt Sutcliffe to a runner-up finish after passing Nic Montanari with just three laps remaining on the board. Nic Montanari was third in the No. 23 normally driven by Tyler Seaboyer, with Cameron McGlashan (in Jake Spencer-Walt’s No. 31) and Nick Clarke (in Wayde Thorne’s No. 46x) rounding out the top-five.

Paul Maltese was one of drivers involved in the race’s lone caution, going around for a spin following contact from Dalla Riva, before Mike Robinson Jr. (driving No. 95 Charlie Smith) made significant contact with the front end of Maltese. Madisson Tienkamp’s team went to work in fixing the No. 9 Mustang, allowing Maltese to rebound for a sixth-place finish ahead of Samantha Shaw (driving No. 81 Blaise Shaw), and Dan Archibald (driving No. 1 Bob Phinnemore). Alvin McNicol (driving No. 49 Tom Eckenwiller) fell out of the race with three laps remaining due to overheating issues, while Mike Robinson Jr. rounded out the field.
