INNISFIL, Ontario — In an event meant to showcase the young up-and-coming talent at Sunset Speedway, it was rookie Josh Berry scoring the feature victory.
Josh Berry won the first heat ahead of Aidan Harper, Ben McPherson, and Jesse Brown.
Austyn Jennett was victorious in the second qualifier in front of Nathan Hawkins, Steve Oakes, Greg Duncan, Jason King, and Josh Watson.
Aidan Harper got the win in the third heat, followed by Brown, Berry, Justice Jones, Greg Duncan, David Rockwood, McPherson, and Brandon Burnett.
Greg Duncan won the final qualifier ahead of Oakes, King, Watson, Hawkins, and Jennett. Jennett only completed half the distance after having to head pit side due to the hood pins falling out while battling for the lead in turns one and two against Duncan.
The drop of the green flag saw heat winners Josh Berry and Aidan Harper battle for the top spot back and forth, before Berry was able to put the No. 22 out front solely with just seven laps on the board. From there on, it was his race as he drove away from the field en route to scoring the victory. Harper’s solid performance led him to a runner-up finish ahead of Jesse Brown, Justice Jones, and Austyn Jennett.
Steve Oakes put together one of his best features en route to sixth in front of Ben McPherson, the 90x, Greg duncan, Josh Watson, and Nathan Hawkins. Jason King and Brandon Burnett rounded out the field.
