INNISFIL, Ontario — It’s been a busy past couple of weeks for Wally Wilson, with having driven three different race cars over the course of a seven day span.
Wilson began the stretch by making the trip to Sunset Speedway on Saturday, September 2 of Labor Day weekend behind the wheel of his familiar No. 69 Modified. He’d start on the front row for the 30-lap feature, battling for the lead in the opening laps. Although he faded back a couple spots through the middle portion, he began to battle his way back up through the running order for a third.
He returned to the 1/3-mile oval on Sunday for the Cool Guy 35, set to run a Bone Stock owned by Cierra Graves. He placed eighth in the first heat, followed by a top-five in the second qualifier. The momentum followed him into the feature, as he made some passes and survived the chaos at the front of the field for a fifth-place finish.
Last Friday, Wilson completed the trifecta by racing in the Bone Stock division at Delaware Speedway in the No. 12D courtesy of an opportunity from Kris Lawrence and BT Racing. With having no laps in the car prior to the weekend, he was able to score a top-10 finish in his heat, followed by 12th in the b-main to make the main event.
He looked to make his way forward through the deep starting grid, ultimately falling a lap down to the leader in the process en route to placing 31st in the final running order.
The busy schedule will not let up as Wilson returns to Sunset Speedway this Saturday, September 16 for the final round of their modified schedule.
