INNISFIL, Ontario — There have been a handful of drivers who have become the story of the Mini Stock division this past season at Sunset Speedway. A pair of them celebrated on Saturday night as Tyler Seaboyer won the feature, while Doug Butler was crowned the division champion.
Jacob Sutcliffe won the first heat ahead of Jake Spencer-Walt, Curtis Stewart, Jason D’Antimo, Kris Inglis, Peter Wakeling, Eric Rainey, and Austyn Jennett.
Tyler Seaboyer was victorious in the second qualifier in front of Doug Butler, Cameron McGlashan, Blaise Shaw, Chandler Bos, Bob Phinnemore, Madisson Tienkamp, Robbie Sikes, and Wyatt Sutcliffe.
Jacob Sutcliffe went for the daily double, followed by Stewart, D’Antimo, Spencer-Walt, Inglis, Rainey, and Wilman.
Doug Butler won the final heat ahead of Shaw, Seaboyer, McGlashan, Bos, Wyatt Sutcliffe, Phinnemore, Tienkamp, and Sikes.
Curtis Stewart led the field to green as he continues to chase his first career victory with Cameron McGlashan tight in behind for second. McGlashan looked to challenge with his mustang, but it was Tyler Seaboyer that made things interesting in taking the pair three-wide for the top spot on Lap 7. The No. 23 was out front from that point on, set on cruise control as he tried to put distance between himself and the field.
Although Butler was able to climb up to second with seven laps to go, it did not enable him enough time to cut the distance enough and pass for the lead. A season filled with multiple feature wins and heat victories was enough for Butler, though, as he was crowned the 2023 Mini Stock Champion.
