PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — Despite a late-race restart, there was no slowing down A.J. Emms on Saturday night, as he led flag-to-flag en route to winning the Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified feature at Peterborough Speedway.
Norman Newman won the first JRS Auctions heat in front of Jason Keen, Bryan Batty, Chad Strawn, Tyler Liscum, and Alvin McNicol.
A.J. Emms was victorious in the second qualifier ahead of Wally Wilson, Chris Milwain, Ryan Dick, and Dave Mathers.
Chad Strawn won the third heat, followed by Emms, Milwain, Newman, and Liscum.
Jason Keen was victorious in the last qualifier in front of Dick, Batty, McNicol, Wilson, and Mathers.
With the invert for the feature set by the point standings, A.J. Emms started pole for the 40-lap feature alongside Wally Wilson. The driver of the No. 14 Modified began to build his advantage as soon as the green flag dropped, extending it out to a half-track lead until the caution came out with two laps to go for a spin by Tyler Liscum on the backstretch. The restart would see Chad Strawn, who took over the runner-spot with nine laps to go, challenge for the lead, but unable to find a way by.
A.J. Emms scored the victory to visit Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC victory lane ahead of Chad Strawn, Jason Keen, Norman Newman, and Bryan Batty. Alvin McNicol put together a solid performance in sixth, in front of Chris Milwain and Tyler Liscum. Wally Wilson suffered a mechanical failure while running second en route to placing ninth, while Ryan Dick got turned on an early race restart en route to 10th.
The next race for the Just Foam It OSCAAR Modifieds takes place on Saturday, August 19 at Sauble Speedway.
