INNISFIL, Ontario — Continuing to gain speed and confidence weekly paid off for Wyatt Sprung on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway with his first career feature victory.
The action for the up-and-coming stars began the evening a bit rocky, with their qualifier including a series of yellow flags. Morgan Moore was the first driver to go around for a spin, with Keegan Moat following it up with a pair of his own. Sprung picked up the checkered flag in front of Moat and Moore.
When the feature began, Moat grabbed the early advantage, but was chased down by Sprung. Sprung stalked Moat for a series of laps, working on getting the right run underneath him. He was able to make it work, taking the top spot on Lap 9.
Sprung appeared to be set for victory, until the caution waved with a couple laps remaining for a spin by Moat. The restart saw Sprung and Moat start side-by-side, battling through the first lap back and forth. Sprung nosed ahead on the second lap, but was not able to put Moat right in the rearview. Moat came back alongside for a lap, and kept Sprung honest to the checkered flag.
Wyatt Sprung got the feature victory for his first career victory in front of Keegan Moat and Morgan Moore.
