INNISFIL, Ontario — Despite being challenged over the final restart for the lead, Brandon Steele held on to win the Bone Stock feature at Sunset Speedway on Saturday night.
Defending track champion Jacob Booth won the first heat ahead of Brandon Steele, Calvin Reesor, Aundrea Lusk, and Jordan Owen.
Jack Bird was victorious in the second qualifier in front of Shawn Stewart, Phil Givens, Aidan Harper, and Jay Cutting.
The main event was full of its own version of chaos right from the beginning, with Cash Ireton sending pole sitter Aidan Harper around going into the first corner. Most of the field was fortunately able to escape without contact, except Jacob Booth who could not get slowed up before hitting Harper’s door.
Brandon Steele inherited the pole position for the restart, and took full advantage of the opportunity as he broke out to the advantage. He drove away from the field and looked home free until a caution came out in the final laps for Aundrea Lusk being spun while trying to lap Nicolas Reese as she ran second. The restart saw Steele and Phil Givens run side-by-side for a series of laps, with Steele grabbing the point with two laps to go.
Brandon Steele led the rest of the way en route to the victory, with Phil Givens driving his way from the back for second. Jacob Booth rebounded for third ahead of Jordan Owen and Jay Cutting. Jack Dixon made a rare appearance at Sunset Speedway in sixth in front of Josh Berry, Brady Cox, Calvin Reesor, and Shawn Stewart.
Aundrea Lusk wound up 11th after her spin, followed by Cash Ireton, Justice Jones, Ben McPherson, Nicholas Reece, Curtis Stewart, Steve Oakes, Greg Duncan, Jake Bird, and Aidan Harper.
