INNISFIL, Ontario — Returning back to Sunset Speedway this past weekend, Rick Spencer-Walt ran up front throughout both features en route to a top-five finish.
The speed was in the No. 31w from the initial drop of the green flag, with Rick Spencer-Walt laying down a lap of 14.537 seconds in time trials to set him up to start fourth.
He’d waste no time moving his way forward up to second, ready to challenge for the lead. The ensuing laps would see a battle for the top spot between himself and Jordan Howse, with the pair going back and forth. Travis Hallyburton tried to take the pair three-wide, resulting in contact that sent Spencer-Walt up the track slightly. The result was the loss of track position, crossing the finish line in fourth.
Starting on the front row for the second feature, Spencer-Walt was ready to challenge for the victory once again. While battling with Gord Shepherd on Lap 2, Hallyburton tried to take the pair three-wide, resulting in contact sending Spencer-Walt around in turn four. Frustrated with the pair of incidents on the night, Spencer-Walt sent Hallyburton for a spin under caution, resulting in a black flag for rough driving.
Spencer-Walt shared his thoughts on the incident via Sunset Speedway’s twitter, which can be watched at https://twitter.com/Sunset_Speedway/status/1682956207538028544. Please be advised that it is for mature audiences only due to language. The comments have been picked up and distributed throughout North America, virtue of Dirty Mo Media’s Door Bumper Clear discussing it.
The team also debuted their new acquired Mustang mini stock, with Josh Bullen behind the wheel. He started off the night placing third and first in his pair of heats, followed by a third in the feature after having to start deep in the field.
