Mechanical Woes End Rick Spencer-Walt’s IWK 250 Early

ANTIGONISH, Nova Scotia — Making the 18-hour trip out east to Riverside International Speedway, Rick Spencer-Walt saw his inaugural IWK 250 appearance end early with mechanical woes.

The Spencer-Walt Motorsports driver spent the allotted practice sessions learning as much about the 1/3-mile high-banked oval as he could. The hard work paid off, with a lap of 14.673 seconds in time trials to put him 17th on the scoring pylon. He then ran up front throughout his qualifying heat en route to a third to qualify 15th for the event.

From the drop of the green flag, he looked to settle in and begin logging laps in knowing it was a long distance. However, his race ultimately ended early when motor issues took him out of the running on Lap 10. He was credited with a 26th-place finish.

Rick Spencer-Walt will be back at Sunset Speedway this weekend on Saturday, July 22, behind the wheel of the No. 99 Modified for ADAMS Motorsports.
