Jeff Blackburn Sweeps Outlaw Midget Features at Sauble Speedway

SAUBLE BEACH, Ontario — If Jeff Blackburn wanted to, he’d be able to go surfing at Sauble beach after this weekend. After all, he picked up a pair of boogie boards after winning the Outlaw Midgets presented by Canadian Tire Innisfil features on Canada Day weekend.

Jeff Blackburn won the first heat ahead of Kayla Semple, Derek Millman, and Richard Woodland. Zack Millman, Mikey Homewood, and Russ Couture did not take the green flag.

Dave Bradley was victorious in the second qualifier in front of his brother Mike Bradley, Kevin Spiez, Rob Harrison, Nick Spiez, Larry Lawson, and Jason Metcalfe. Glenn Raymond failed to finish.

Jeff Blackburn went for the daily double, followed by Derek Millman, Semple, and Couture. Woodland and Jeremy Lenard failed to finish, while Homewood did not take the green flag.

Nick Spiez won the final qualifier ahead of Dave Bradley, Kevin Spiez, Mike Bradley, Rob Harrison, Larry Lawson, and Jason Metcalfe. Raymond failed to finish.

Come feature time, Jeff Blackburn grabbed the lead on the initial lap, and did not look back as he paced all 25 laps en route to picking up the feature victory. Dave Bradley ran inside the top-five all race for a runner-up, in front of Nick Spiez, Mike Bradley, and Kevin Spiez. Rob Harrison ran mid-pack throughout for sixth, followed by Larry Lawson, Kayla Semple, Zach Millman, and Russ Couture. Several drivers failed to finish including Derek Millman, Richard Woodland, Jeremy Lenard, Glenn Raymond, Jason Metcalfe, and Mikey Homewood.

Richard Woodland started the second show on Sunday in victory lane by winning the first heat ahead of Kevin Spiez, Mikey Homewood, Zack Millman, and Kayla Semple. Glenn Raymond failed to finish.

Jeff Blackburn won the second qualifier in front of Nick Spiez, Mike Bradley, Rob Harrison, and Derek Millman. Larry Lawson failed to finish.

Richard Woodland went for the daily double, followed by Kevin Spiez, Dave Bradley, Semple, and Homewood. Raymond and Zach Millman failed to finish.

Jeff Blackburn picked up another checkered flag ahead of Nick Spiez, Mike Bradley, and Derek Millman. Harrrison failed to finish.

When it came time for the main event, the speed was there once again for Jeff Blackburn once again. He worked his way forward quickly, taking the lead on Lap 6 and not looking back en route to getting the victory. Nick Spiez dropped out of the top-five for a single lap in the early stages, but fought back to be the runner-up in front of his father Kevin Spiez. Mike Bradley and Mikey Homewood rounded out the top-five, followed by Larry Lawson, Kayla Semple, Zach Millman, Jeremy Lanard, Rob Harrison, and Dave Bradley. Richard Woodland, Glenn Raymond and Derek Millman rounded out the field.

Nick Spiez now sits atop of the standings, 15 points ahead of Kayla Semple following the two days of racing.

The Outlaw Midgets are back in action at Grand Bend Speedway on Saturday, July 15, as part of their Rib Fest weekend.
