INNISFIL, Ontario — Trading the lead back and forth in the final stages, Cole Kamrath was able to make it stick out front in front en route to scoring his first career feature victory on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
Keegan Moat won the first heat in front of Wyatt Sprung, Morgan Moore, Carter Kamrath, and Rylan Kamrath. Notably, the race was not without incident with Josh Davenport getting loose off of turn four, coming across the track and collecting Carter Kamrath and Jake Spencer-Walt with him. All of the drivers were uninjured in the incident.
Keegan Moat went for the daily double with the win in the second qualifier ahead of Davenport, Sprung, Moore, Carter Kamrath, and Rylan Kamrath. Carter did not have a smooth race this time around, going for a quick spin in turn three.
When the green flag waved for the Jr Late Model feature, all eyes were on the back of the field with both Cole Kamrath and Jake Spencer-Walt returning back to action after fixing their cars. The pair made quick work of the field in getting to the front, with Cole taking the initial advantage over Spencer-Walt. Spencer-Walt made his move, and was able to get by Cole for the lead. The battle wasn’t done there, with Cole pulling the old handy cross-over move to back underneath Spencer-Walt. It worked as he was able to take the lead, and hold off the challenge in return.
Cole Kamrath picked up the win ahead of Jake Spencer-Walt, with Keegan Moat rounding out the podium despite a pair of spins during the event. Josh Davenport and Wyatt Sprung completed the top-five.
