INNISFIL, Ontario — After running into issues on opening night, Cheyenne Charles rebounded for a better result at Spring Velocity.
Charles started off the afternoon by placing eighth in her heat, qualifying her 15th for the 20-lap feature. Starting on the inside of the eighth row, she began to move forward in the opening stages, avoiding a spin ahead of her to run 13th as of the first caution at Lap 9. Restarting just outside of the top-10, she continued to move forward, moving up into 12th just past the halfway mark of the event.
She then used a late restart to her advantage, making a pass to cross the finish line in 11th. Although she just missed the top-10, it marks the strongest finish of her rookie season to date, just two events in the books.
Charles will continue her season next weekend at Sunset Speedway on Saturday, May 25.
