With every point mattering, Danny Benedict is doing what he can to score the most points possible, winning the Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park Late Model feature on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.

Following qualifying, Nick Goetz started on pole ahead of Danny Benedict, Ron Quesnelle, Gord Shepherd, Billy Zardo, Kendra Adams, Mike Wilkinson, Ernie Fumerton, Paul Maltese, Nic Montanari, Dwayne Baker, Chris McIssac, Allan Inglis, and Chris Alderdice.

The feature didn’t get off to a smooth start with Kendra Adams slamming the turn one wall on the opening lap. Billy Zardo headed down pit road following the incident with a flat rear tire.

The second attempt to start the event went smoother with Benedict and Goetz battling side-by-side for the lead. Benedict grabbed the initial advantage on Lap 5 ahead of Goetz and Shepherd. Goetz would try to make the move underneath Benedict a lap later in turns three and four, getting loose, going around for the spin. With 30 laps to go, Benedict led Shepherd, Quesnelle, Baker, Wilkinson, Maltese, Fumerton, Montanari, Zardo, Inglis, Mcissac, Alderdice, and Goetz.

Benedict got a good restart to grab the advantage ahead of Shepherd and Quesnelle, with Wilkinson, Baker and Maltese falling in line behind them. Goetz would begin to make his way back up through the field immediately, though, passing Baker for fifth just before the crossed flags marked the halfway mark. Unfortunately, Baker continued to fall back as he was passed by Fumerton for sixth at Lap 20.

Goetz’s climb came to an end with eight laps to go as he headed down the pit road with a mechanical issue. The action wasn’t too hot on track, either, as the field found themselves spread out single-file around the speedway.

Danny Benedict picked up the win ahead of Gord Shepherd, Ron Quesnelle, Mike Wilkinson, Ernie Fumerton, Dwayne Baker, Paul Maltese, Nic Montanari, Billy Zardo, Allan Inglis, Chris McIssac, Chris Alderdice, Nick Goetz, and Kendra Adams.
