PORT COLBORNE, Ont. (June 28, 2018) – The Insta-Panels Duel on the Dirt Series is set to hit the combined racing portion of the 2018 schedule. The mini-series that encompasses the Street Stock and Mini Stock divisions at five different Ontario short tracks is a long-standing tradition in the province, but in its first with title sponsor Insta-Panels. Each track hosts a pair of ‘home track’ races where drivers earn points toward the Series championship before each track hosts a combined event to determine the top Street Stock and Mini Stock driver in the province.
In 2018, Brighton Speedway, Humberstone Speedway, Merrittville Speedway, Ohsweken Speedway and South Buxton Raceway are all proud participants in the Insta-Panels Duel on the Dirt Seres for the Street Stock division. Humberstone, Merrittville and Ohsweken are participating in the inaugural Mini Stock series.
Humberstone Speedway is set to host the first combined races on the 2018 calendar for both the Street Stocks and Mini Stocks, with both races paying $1,000 to the winner in a Canada Day special on Sunday, July 1. Race time is 6:30pm.
By the time the green flag waves on Sundays features, all home track races should be in the books. All tracks will have completed their home track events, with the exception of Ohsweken and Brighton Speedway’s second home track events, which are scheduled for Friday, June 29 and Saturday, June 30, respectively.
At Brighton Speedway, Justin Ramsay the Street Stock home track race on June 9. At Humberstone, Dave Bailey and Pete Reid scored Street Stock wins while Leroy Buscumb and Craig Vlasic earned Mini Stock victories in May and June, respectively.
At Merrittville Speedway, it was James Thompson and Brad Sheehan who claimed Street Stock wins while Cole Hardy and point leader Alex Riley won Mini Stock events. At Ohsweken, Ryan Dinning won the first Street Stock home track race while Gillian Hils and Nick Masi scored Mini Stock victories. At South Buxton, Steve Shaw claimed wins in both Street Stock qualifiers.
Entering this weekend’s events, Jason Fontaine leads the Street Stock weekly championship standings at Humberstone, Justin Ramsay leads at Brighton, Dave Bailey leads at Ohsweken, Rob Murray paces the field at Merrittville and Steve Shaw is out front at South Buxton.
For the Mini Stocks, Alex Riley leads the championship chase at Merrittville, Leroy Buscumb is out front at Humberstone and Nick Masi is on top of the standings at Ohsweken.
