Despite having a mid-race spin, Ryan Semple made his way back through the St. Onge Recreation Super Stock field to post a top-10 finish on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
Semple started off the night by placing fourth in his first heat, followed by winning the second qualifier.
Starting the 30-lap feature from the 11th position, he began to make up ground early to run eighth as of the first caution at Lap 8. Restarting inside the top-10, he continued to move forward, moving up to the sixth spot. He then got alongside Mike Weeda for fifth at Lap 13, completing the pass a lap later. Fortunately, contact ensued in the process, resulting in Semple going around for the spin and the second yellow flag at Lap 16.
Restarting at the tail of the field, he began to make up ground immediately, moving up to the eighth spot by the third caution with 10 laps to go. Restarting inside the top-10, he was unable to make up much ground, ultimately crossing the finish line in the seventh position.
So far this season, Semple has been impressive on a weekly basis, with five top-five’s in nine races this season. He will look to capture his first feature victory of the year on July 29.
