After running strong early in the feature, Robert Toope was caught up in one of the many early crashes in the feature on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
Toope showed speed during qualifying, placing third in his first heat, followed by a seventh in his second qualifier.
Starting on pole for the feature, he led the opening lap, but behind him, a four-wide battle for position resulted in a crash and a caution. Restarting on the front row, he slipped back to second, batting side-by-side with a pair of fellow competitors. Unfortunately, contact ensued, resulting in Toope making contact with his fellow competitors and the wall down the backstretch, ending his night early.
Toope will be hope to get his season back on track in his next appearance at Sunset Speedway.
Toope is proud to be supported by The Tree Guys, Johnny Burger, CCL Landscape Design, Rikota Mechanical, Highway 400 transmission, Ernie’s Performance, and Auto Trim of Barrie.
